China has a long coastline, and great opportunities exist for the development of a vibrant ocean economy, including the exploitation of marine mineral and energy resources. In the process of developing a strong ocean economy, ocean engineering technologies are of great importance. Advanced fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composites, which have high strength-to-weight ratios and excellent corrosion resistance, can play a key role in ocean engineering. This presentation will start with a brief review of the history and current status of the use of FRP composites in ocean engineering, followed by a discussion of future directions. Special attention will be given to the following two topics which are among the research interests of the speaker: the combination of FRP with seawater sea-sand concrete for the development of marine infrastructure and the use of FRP composites in floating structures.

主讲人简介

香港理工大学校长、中国科学院院士滕锦光教授

滕锦光教授于2019年7月1日出任香港理工大学（理大）校长，，，执掌理大前，，，滕教授为南方科技大学副校长兼研究生院院长。。。

滕教授生于中国温州，，，1983年在浙江大学取得工学学士学位，，，厥后到澳洲悉尼大学深造，，，1990年获颁授博士学位。。。1989年至1991年，，，在英国爱丁堡大学先后作会见博士研究生和研究职员，，，举行为期约两年的研究事情。。。1991年至1994年，，，在澳洲詹姆士库克大学(James Cook University of North Queensland)先后任职讲师、高级讲师。。。滕教授于1994年10月加入香港理工学院土木及结构工程学系，，，担当讲师一职，，，逐步提升至讲座教授（2005年1月）。。。效劳理大时代，，，滕教授先后出任建设及地政学院副院长（2005年至2006年）、协理副校长（2006年至2010年）、建设及地政学院/建设及情形学院院长（2007年至2013年），，，以及可一连都会生长研究院院长（2012年至2018年）。。。

滕教授是成绩不凡的结构工程学者，，，曾撰专著及两百多篇SCI期刊论文，，，著作被天下各地的研究职员广为引用，，，多项科研效果被中国、澳洲、欧洲、英国及美国的设计标准、指南所接纳。。。

滕教授优异的学术成绩享誉中外，，，屡获表扬。。。2017年荣获中国科技界最高学术荣衔―中国科学院院士。。。别的，，，他亦于2015年中选为爱丁堡皇家学会通讯院士，，，2013年中选为香港工程科学院院士。。。滕教授多年来获得许多奖项，，，其中包括2013年度获颁「国家自然科学奖」二等奖，，，2004年获颁「国家优异青年科学基金」；；；；以及获理大揭晓2013/14年度研究及学术活动组别「校长特设卓越体现/成绩奖」。。。
